Dr. Wilcox and his team of veteran educators and business leaders have provided advisory and consulting services to dozens of start-up, early-stage and mature companies in the United States and Europe.

As a superintendent, he brought fresh perspectives and forward-thinking strategies that have reshaped the educational landscape for students and the adults who served them, as well as, the larger community. Clayton's emphasis on relevant personalized learning and technology integration has revolutionized the way students engage with their education in each of his districts. His unwavering commitment to equity and inclusion ensures that all students have an equal opportunity to succeed.

Dr. Wilcox has been awarded the prestigious Outstanding Achievement Award by the Council of Great City Schools. He has also been recognized as one of the leading superintendent’s by the Education Research Development Institute and by the America the International Society for Technology in Education and he has received numerous other awards and accolades for his service in both the public and private sectors.

A native of Iowa, Dr. Wilcox began his career as a teacher in the Tri-Valley Community School District in Illinois in 1979. A year later, he moved to Waterloo Community Schools in Iowa, where he taught in elementary and middle schools before working in human resources, and as a middle school assistant principal and as an elementary principal.
In 1994, he joined St. Johns County School District in Florida as director for personnel services, subsequently becoming executive director for human resources and staff development. Since then, he has served as superintendent for school districts in East Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Pinellas County, Florida, Washington County Public Schools in Maryland and in Charlotte North Carolina. He has also worked as a vice president and senior vice president for education and corporate relations at Scholastic, Inc. and most recently served as Vice President, Ambassador for Community Relations at Compass Group, USA, while also leading Thoughts2Lead to prominence as a counsultancy focused on supporting companies serve and support education across the nation.

Dr. Wilcox is married with two grown children. He and his wife, Julie, live in Charlotte.
