Trapped. Finding a Way Out.

There are those moments when we feel stuck. Stuck in the same old job, same old situation, same old relationships. A friend once described it this way, “every day is just a bit of the same old nasty sandwich.” I cleaned it up some, but it was his way of expressing that his life had become monotonous, unfulfilling and nearly unbearable. It didn’t and it doesn’t have to be that

When you feel trapped – use those feelings as motivation to change and not as a sentence. Start by finding a mentor or coach, someone you know and trust and who has stepped into what you aspire too. Finding a mentor/coach doesn’t have to be hard or cost an arm and leg – it simply requires that you build up the courage to ask someone you feel can help you sort things out to give you some time. At Thoughts2Lead, we have found most of those who ask are rewarded with a resounding yes and most who are asked are honored to be asked. Next, you simply need to block the time for honest and open dialogue about what is important to you - a next step in your career, a change in scenery or a change in your relationships. Examine why you’re not where you want to be. This is sometimes a difficult task but its critical to building your plan and taking the next step. Take the time to specifically map out not just what you want to accomplish but the plan for getting to the goal. Finally, you simply need to follow-up on the plans that you and your mentor/coach outlined.

It really can be as simple as that.
